Day 16 - Davui to Denarau
7am and its raining, well to be more accurate it's chucking it down, stair-rods! This is their rainy season but it's the first we've seen since arriving so mustn't complain, I guess it gives us a true sense of this place and its weather systems. Have seen the sun poking through the clouds though so hopefully it won't last long and we can enjoy our last morning, although looking at the sky now I'm not so sure. It's also very, very humid today, I'd guess around 85%. Will be posting this blog at lunchtime today as we lose the internet when we leave here and it is really expensive back at the Hilton and we're only there overnight. Some of these hotels really know how to charge for things like that.
There has apparently been a hurricane over at Tonga although they don't think it will hit here, but as the locals say "you never know with hurricanes!" We have been so lucky with the weather so far as we have managed to miss the rain wherever we have been. I'm going to have to get the umbrella out to go to breakfast, fortunately they provide them here along with everything else.
Rain finally stopped about 11:00 and the sun came out again, still really high humidity so absolutely dripping off me as I write! Apparently it is Hurricane Wilma that is in the vicinity and is currently centred south west of Fiji. Looks as though there is another depression building to the west though and Thurs/Fri look a bit dodgy although they have been wrong before so hopefully we will be on our way before it arrives. Christchurch NZ is looking at rain for tomorrow night but ok for Friday although a good deal colder than here!
Will be back online as and when through South Island NZ as unsure what the coverage will be whilst in our Motor Caravan………. Ni Sa Moce (Goodbye) from Fiji
