Today we hired bikes and rode around seeing most of the sites of Bruges. Firstly we rode up the river and past the old style windmills, then we went into the town centre (called the Markt), the buildings are set as they were in medieval times, stone cobble streets, beautiful tall buildings and loads of church buildings with chiming clocks, although most of the clocks are so old that they take forever to chime through the time. They also have about 10 horse and carriages that rise people around and show all the sites from. It kind of feels like a different time.
We then went to one of the many chocolate boutique shops and bought a few chocolate truffles and chocolate covered cherry’s and seashell pralines, we then went back and bought some more truffles as soon as we ate them because they were so good, they just melted in your mouth Mmm..
We then set of for the chocolate museum, which told us the entire origin and background story of the Cocoa bean and chocolate.
After that we went and had lunch in a little pasta store and looked around the shops for a while, we then went riding past a few old churches and had a look.
By the afternoon, we decided to go and check out one of the pubs that has a menu of 450 beers, but on the way there, it started pouring down again, we found shelter and waited for it to pause, we then made dash for it and headed back to the campsite. Sorry Jason, the beer’ll have to wait till later.
