We walked up to the Hohensalzburg fortress and when we got up the top we realized it was going to cost heaps to get into to see things that we’ve already seen at other places, so we didn’t go in, but instead we walked around the top of the mountain where there were heaps of nice views of the town.
We then found our way back down to the town and went to St Peters Cathedral and the very well maintained cemetery that’s in the courtyard, we also went to what they say is Catacombs, but when we went up to see them, all that was there were two 15th century chapels carved into the cliff face, Jason went and asked where the catacombs were, the lady said there are no catacombs, just the chapels (even though the sign says catacombs, don’t they know lying is a sin!)
After that we went for a walk through the stunning Mirrabell Gardens (this is where “The Sound of Music first meets Maria by the fountain) and to St Sebastian Cathedral and saw Mozart’s family tomb.
We then finished our day out at Augustiner Kouster Beer hall, here you pick up a beer mug on your way through off the shelf, buy a ticket from the cashier, hand your ticket to the bar man and he pours your beer, it’s a small brewery so they only had one type of beer, but it was pretty nice.
