Around the world(ish) Katy's way!
Well, ive just come back from an amazing weekend, white water rafting near Jarabacoa in the mountains. The guys left early on Saturday to go see some waterfalls, but me and Sam stayed in town because we had to change money. So we get to the supermarket at, like 11.00, in plenty of time to get what we needed before the 1.30 bus, but we had to wait in line for the bank for AN HOUR AND A HALF because their system kept on crashing. Honestly, as i have said on many an occasion, NOTHING in this country works. ARRRGGHHH. Anyway, sadly we werent goin to make the bus, so we just had to while away the hours until the next bus SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!! ahh twas good! Anyway we got the bus, made it to Jarabacoa, and eventually got to our wonderful hotel, which was, i have to say, rather suave..hahaha. No but seriously, it was tres smart, so me and Sam went for a nice sophisticated meal, sans the guys, who had dissapeared off somewhere (dont know where, we dont like to ask..!) any way, so, I had my new most favourite food which is (prepare yourself, you may like to sit down for this one. If you werent already. Which you probably would be if you were at the computer...) CALAMARIS!!! aka fried squid rings, im quite proud of myself!! anyway they were delicieux, and we were just sitting there in the lovely open air restaurant, with the sound of the river in the background... And then James and Chris turned up and decided that we all needed to do kareoke. Sadly they didnt have a huge selection of english songs, but me and Sam did do (what i like to think was) a classy renition of the spice girls.. ahem. Anyway the next morning we got up and caught a couple of motoconchos to the rafting place, which was tres nice, and we had the most amazing brekkie, which included some yummy banana bread...mmmmmmmm. The actual rafting was terrifying, but sooooo much fun!!! We had the craziest guide who kept on saying stuff like 'you see that house?' er yes... 'Me too.' What? And 'oo these next rapids are mike tyson/mike tyson jnr/the toilet(and my personal favourite) the mother of all rapids.'Crazy. And guides from other boats kept on grabbing us and pulling into the water, which was freeeezing. But the funniest moment was at the end, and the manny with the camera had jumped into our boat, when another boat full of germans (which i have to add, was half deflated, and worryingly the guide really didnt seem to care...) Any way, yes, so the boat full of germans goes by and they all start flicking water at us, and all of a sudden the camera man, who so far hadnt come out with a single word, spanish or english, stands up and goes 'f*****g germans!!'. Hilarious!!!! So that was our weekend. We got back to the guesthouse on sunday evening after a ping pong marathon with our raft guide back at base, and just crashed, we were all so exhausted. Not much else has happened this week, but me and Sam did go and see John Tucker Must Die last night, which was hilarious, if a bit trashy, and weve also started going for a walk/jog in the park every other morning, cos weve had enough of sitting on our backsides all day.
