Around the world(ish) Katy's way!
Ahh well ive just made it back from the most amazing weekend down the coast in Bayahibe. We had to get up at 5am on Saturday to catch the 3hr bus ride there, which was fine until the diver put on the most radom mexican programme on the tv, about some 'super' policeman with the most incredibe tash: hed shaved it down the middle so all he had left was a huge tuft of hair on either side of his mouth, hilarious!!! And every one was like "oh don Gregorio (i cant remember his real name, im sure it was something similar!) you saved the day you are so amazing, we love you" and then he went off doing the weirdest dancing ive ever seen, beat up a person in a club whilst doing these crazy moves, and makes half the population of mexico (or wherever he lives) swoon. BIZARE!!! Anyway, where was I?? Ah yes. The bus. So we arrived at the town where we were going to get the boat from in good time and just sat aroud, had a bit of a wander, and got stressed out because the ATM wouldnt work for any of us. Eventuall the boat set off, complete with the craziest crew youll ever find. They we all a bunch of loons. In a good way that is. Eventually we arrived at our snorkelling spot, and after the captain had made sure wed all jumped off the top of the boat at least once we got our gear on and had a swim. The reef was abseloutely amazing, its a national park so it is completely unspoilt and run for miles and miles. Completely stunning!!! It made me laugh when i saw one of the locals with a little kid he was teaching to swim, and i have to say i dont think you could find a better place to learn, it certinally beats the pools back home!!!!! After that we got back on the boat, and after the crew had finished challenging us to jumping competitions off the boat again we set off to see the island itself. Well as im sure you can see from the pictures it was paradise!!! We had luch, had a zzzz on the loungers and swam in the sea. Ill tell you what, this is certinally some gap year. It made the other voulunteer laugh like loons when theym saw my boardies and rashie combo to stave off sunburn, and thanks to my 'white like paper' skin my new nickname is Casper. Charming.b Anyway on Sunday we just slept late, had a wander and got the bus home!!
This morning saw the return of our loony house keeper, Dona Leyda, so now the house is once again filled with the sound of manic laughter, crazy dancing, and awful food. Just another day in paradise, life is good! xx
