Day 6
Another early start to catch the boat from sorrento harbour to the island of Capri.
A wavy ride over!! :S very picturesque place as you come into it.
When you get off the boat, you then have a choice of getting to Capri centre either by bus/posh taxi/mountainside train/walk. We chose bus as it was right in front of us.
If I wasn't feeling squiffy enough after the boat, I was definitely squiffy now! On account of everything being narrow, all transport on Capri is dinky... This bus was no different, but it's driver is still under the impression that it can hold as many passengers (standing/sitting/lying down/crowd surfing/contortionists) as a normal sized bus. So with this in mind, up we go along the mountain roads to Capri centre.
Lovely up top, where all the famous people holiday and spend all their money on designer clothes! Had a short walk around the winding streets before stopping in the square for a drink to watch the people and other various dinky vehicles drive their dinky stuff around!
Next, trip back down the mountain side to the harbour on the fournica (mountainside train) never been on one before, better than the bus up!
Me and dad decided to get the boat trip around the island that goes to the blue grotto, a cave inside the rock only accessible by ducking down inside a small rowing boat and floating in. Unfortunately, due to tide/windy conditions, we couldn't get in but had a lovely trip around Capri/Anacapri/the lighthouse/the small man who sits on a rock and waves to tourists/green and white caves. All of Capri is made of limestone rock so when the rock gets broken off and falls into the sea, the sun reflects the whiteness of it, making the surrounding water really blue, beautiful :)
Came off the boat, met mum and went for a wander and a sit down by the marina. Had a nap on the wall in the sun :P then went for a glass of wine and ice cream in nearby cafe to wait for our boat to come back.
Better boat journey back to sorrento, out for food, bit of an experience. Everything you order is pretty much made in front of you on a wheely table so you and your neighbours can watch :/ I think I can cope without seeing a fish being dissected ever again!
Absolutely knackered, bed now!!
