Great nights sleep, even though in a room with 20 people ;). And I felt better than ever this morning even after such a long and difficult day. No soreness, and NO blisters!!!!
What a great decision to stay in this town for the day. Ponte de Lima is beautiful. Rainy/overcast this morning, but it cleared up this afternoon - perfect.
This morning the town was busy setting up for Feires Novas (starts Thursday) - an annual party that goes on for 24 hours 3 days straight!? They say there are a million people that come to this little town. I'll definitely have to come back some year for that! (Any joiners??)
Rest of day was spent walking around and taking photos, and riding the tourist trolley (where they didn't speak English, so just a nice ride ;) at one point I noticed all of the shop owners and others gathering outside a church in the center of town. When I asked what was happening, someone said "the bride is coming", and sure enough she rode up in an antique car. So great that the entire town (and tourists) were so excited.
There is a fest here tonight - various bands, etc - plan to go early and get to bed for a 6am departure. Tomorrow is the biggest ascent, and it will be a rough one for sure (all of the pilgrims were talking about it). It's only about 12 miles tomorrow, but a straight up 1300 foot ascent in the middle. Going to get rid of more stuff from pack tonight!
