My favorite holiday of the year is Thanksgiving, and for good reason. First of all its a 4 day weekend in fall which is the best time of the year, second, we usually camp with friends and third, the FOOD !! DUH
I was really looking forward to this year because we had a large group going and we were headed back to Vail Lake Resort (one of my personal favs). For those that have not been there I strongly recommend it. There is so much to do at the resort and in the surrounding area.
Its located in Temecula Hills not far from all of the beautiful wineries. There is fishing, swimming, horseback riding, cycling, running, miniature golf, water slides and hiking just to name a few activities going on there but believe me there are more.
We arrived on Wednesday this year, giving us a day to prepare for the feast. There were a total of 6 families out there this year. We participated in karaoke in the village square Wednesday night. Suzie and Casey busted their best moves to the singing of Chad H and the wonderful duet of BL and SL . Good times!
On Thursday the women put on an absolute feast as usual. Smoked hams, fried turkey, and all the trimmings were devoured and there were just as many deserts as there was sides. I want to personally thank everyone involved in the preparation of that meal , It was delish!
Thursday night the women treated themselves to Black Thursday shopping. They went bananas out there. They came back with the suburban stuffed with merchandise that included over $500 in cheetah printed snookies! A crazy purchase but they would come in handy on friday.
On Friday mother nature decided to make it rain. It was cold and the girls used their recent purchases to stay warm . Once the weather cleared the guys got in a couple of mean bocci ball games.
Saturday we all went to the wineries minus Mario and the kids who stayed behind and the Chubbs/Lewis group who decided to throw in the towel early and head home. The wineries were beautiful and not too busy. The light weight trophy went to BR this time around, way to go girl!
Sunday came all to fast as usual. Everyone headed home bright and early. If you get a chance, check out some of the pictures I posted of the trip. We couldn't have a better back drop for our Thanksgiving feast.
I truly am thankful for all of the people that I have in my life. They all bring a little something to the table that makes life worth living.
