Well I thought Bangkok was beautiful but Cambodia is mind-blowing. We started of in Siem Reap which was a really lovely city but it was crazy. You would have little shanty homes next to 5 star hotels (no I'm not joking, 5 star hotels!). It was here that we went to Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is a complex of Buddhist temples. I swear nothing I could say would do these amazing structures justice. I took us hours and a lot of trekking to get round them all but they were worth it. One of the temples was used in the tomb raider film hehe.
After Siem Reap we moved on to the capital. Phnom Penh. Now this city was HUGE! On our first day we went to S.21 which is the Cambodian version of Auschwitch. I thought I would be ok but I total bottled it. Its bad enough being away from home without adding a years worth of nightmares. I sat out the front while everyone else went in the building. There was still blood stains on the floor. We then went on to the Killing fields which were just as bad. Yet again I sat out the front and waited for everyone else. A decision I do not regret. I think the experience has humbled the group and we have alot of respect for Cambodia and the people.
We are now in Sihanoukville on the coast. This is our first beach. Me and nic are't so bother about hitting the beach afterall we are going to see some of the best beaches in the world. We just want to relax before we move into Vietnam where our travels really pick up the pace.
I would be here for days if I was to write everything so I'm going to leave it for now.
Missing everyone greatly but this experience is exactly what I needed.
Lots of love and hugs. Kirsty xxxxx
