WOW! Last night was a riot! QUITE LITERALLY! ....but it really wasnt fun at all!
I was just heading off to bed last night and I can hear the girls in the dorm attached to the flat (Kowhai) stomping aroud and screaming. Now, this being a boarding school the obvious suspision, especially after being warned that the girls can get a bit excitable around bed time, would be to think that the girls are messing around as girls do. I said to myself that if I hear one more series of stomping or screaming then I am going in there, as I have been told to do, and tell them to SHUT THE HELL UP!!! (I was also suffering with a headache last night....leading me to being my grumpy self). So I hear the stomping and screaming which was my que, unlock the door between the flat and Kowhai and enter, heading to the tell-tale dorm light that was on at the end of the hallway. NOT what I was expecting though, was to have the whole dorm huddled together in the one room completely petrified with half of them in tears!!!! This was definatley not the situation for a telling-off!
The basis of the story was that Thresa (a VERY intellegent girl that has quite a violent streak due to her having some mental instabilities) had had a complete tantrum and started throwing hockey sticks and pillows over the dividing walls narrowly missing the others and she was the one running up and down the hall screaming. She had also been threatening them and telling them her plans to blow up the school etc....She was then hiding in the bathroom (which explained why there was a chair in the middle of the hall....the girls were tring to barrier her in that end of the dorm). SO after a little calming of the girls and a bit of talking to Thresa the situation was calm enough to go find matron Kate and leave it all to her! I was quite proud of myself dealing with that situation and strangely glad that I had told Thresa the first time she decided to growl at me that I would not take any of her crap and so she could stop it right now! The teachers in the classes where I was watching her said they were just pleased that I kept her from disrupting everyone else (didnt matter if she was doing any work or not). So if I learn or get nothing else out of this trip then at least ive learnt an important life skill in dealing with crazy situations....even if the keep you up untill the early hours of the morning trying to calm petrified girls and packing up another to have her sent home immediatley.....
After that didnt get much of a sleep due to a VERY PAINFUL leg cramp in the middle of the night and waking up to the door alarm because Allie didnt turn it off when the girls needed to go out - it is one LOUD siren!
The rest of the day was pretty ok. Tuesday is my busiest day so it was quite tireing. Was left on my own for the first time with Gemma today ( a severly disabled 20 yr old who has the mental capability of an 18 month old) and I am becoming very fond of that one. She is very sweet and loving in her own way. Also got talking to some more of the girls and they like me!!!! :D I was reading Kerrang! and one was quite excited about that...she then said to the other one "I told you she was cool!" ^^ I love this place ^^ It is very cool!!
Spent the evening down the shooting range!!!! :D:D:D:D:D This is a very happy me! The coach guy named me his "Little English Friend" and I was just surprised that he remebered me after only one shoot before! I obviously made an impression and even though I was still using the same ancient single-stage-triggered guns, I shot very well indeed! ^^ As my card was being marked, one of the boys who was also shooting in that detail asked whos card it was (after saying 'wow'!)...I blushed!! and then said it was mine....they were quite impressed! Cant wait for next week! I still prefer Full Bore though but this is an adequate substitute untill I get back home and off to Bisley.
NOTE ON THINGS I AM LOOKING FOREWARD TO:
*A pleasant cycle into town tomorow
*The bush restoration programme on Saturday morning ^^
*WELLINGTON IN A WEEK!
*Yr 13 Ski Trip
