Its bin a week since I last wrote..it would have been sooner (which I had planned to do) but it was the last week of term 3, and being the last week...everyone gets very tired and lazy..including me...especially me....( you should have seen the state of my room yesterday!!!) So this blog is the contents of the last week (19th - 27th September):
So thinking back to last Saturday...It was the 'Working B'....its 'Bush Restoration Week' or somthing like that, but either way, part of that was that the school held a Working B for students, teachers, old girls etc. as there is a area of bushland next to the school that, over the next 6 years, is being restored back to origional New Zealand Bush. I spent Saturday morning out there with about 30 other people weeding....... BUT it was actually quite fun! The Heads' (Beth) son was really cute! and one of the yr 9's here had a crush on him so I spent a lot of time teasing her with the other teachers. ^^ I also had a few comical moments...PICTURE THIS: As in many cartoon sketches, the hard working gardener is pulling weeds and finds one particularstem of ivy that is being quite difficult. Now, that root really didnt want to come out, so the hard working gardener bends down and pulls with all their might.....and goes flying backwards into the rubbish heap, bum in air! TWICE! ^^ as Beth said "wheres a camera when you need one!". Also another quote from one of the students " Solway has a lot of Ivory!" (thankfully no animal right activists were around)
So after that day I had some very achy muscles! but it was a good mornings work and a good excuse to be lazy for the rest of the day :D In the evening, it was one of the boarders birthdays so went to the boarding house and enjoyed some party games and lots of chocolate, cake and ice cream :D:D:D VERY NICE!
So after waking up a little achy from the day before, Sunday me and Allie and planned to go with Claire Hunt (social studdies teacher) for a tramp up the Pinnicles and the to see the seals. To be honest, I had no idea what this day would entail, so I put on my walking shoes and my Lattitude jumper and headed off. Claires friend wa also there but as she had Arthritis and she had done the walk before she did a little sunbathing by the car. As warned, the climb up to the Pinnicles was very steap indeed! We climbed up the river bed (apparently in winter the river is full but due to the dry weather there was only the smallest of streams) which was VERY rocky but it was fun to climb. The rock formations were so amazing! they reminded me of the Castles I had seen in Germany with Eva that were carved into the rock. The rocks here looked like they had one been castles but had then weathered away. All the rock was volcanic so was full of sharp spikes that looked deadly! ( like the image of Vlad the Impalers courtyard after he impaled the whole Turkish army outside the front of his castle, on spikes - but in this sense it is less gruesome)
