Kim and Hayley's Excellent Adventure
Ola everyone,
Well thank you all very much for all of the Birthday messages.......
Yes i did have a very good day and evening with special thanks to missy Kimbo....
Right, i think we left you in Olinda... and we are now in Pipa.....
So what have we been up to, well with much luck, no more bites or stings for me..woohoooo... but i think that is due to me not going in the sea for the past week.... so i'm sure we will have something to update you with next week...hahaha...
Anyways, Olinda was amasing.... we stayed for far to long, but one day seemed to roll into the next day and then into the next day and then into the next...see where i'm going with this one.....hummm well we ended up staying a week...... but we had great fun......
Carnival really started on the Friday evening with a big display and opening in Olinda old town square... and then we followed the parade around the town.... drums beating.... beers flowing.. lots of amasing costumes and dancing.......
We soon found out that the displays were in Olinda during the day and then the festivals were in Recife at night, which was about a 15 min taxi drive....
Recife was amasing.... colourful and the biggest party we have ever been to....... it was like a massive festival but in a city, with music and dancing.....
So our Carnival lasted for about 4 days, but we soon got a bit tired of it as you couldn't leave the hostel without getting sprayed with a water gun, or white foam.....
So we left Olinda (sadly) with a crazy dutch guy (tommy) in tow... to head north to another surf town.... and here we are...
We arrived to relax a little and get some sleep from the carnival, but didn't realise that it would be continuing here as well.... so finally carnival is over and all has restored to normalness.... well as normal as it gets here in Brazil.....
We spent our first day on the beach.... which actually reminded us of Compton..... (Island beach) it was really rugged and had some black sand, but obviously littered with palm trees and beautiful surf and really good surfers...hahaha...
Then on wednesday there was a big parade, so we dressed up as hoola girls, and tommy joined in with a sarong... and we all went out to meet some locals.....
Again we have settled into this town really well, with many local friends.
Lots of the travelling friends that we have met along the way have joined us here as well as they knew we would be here and that it was my birthday..... even Aussie John made the effort to come and suprise us on my birthday...
So that pretty much brings us up to date....
I think we plan to leave here on Monday and head further north but that depends on our surfing......
'oh' we actually got up early today and headed to the local beach where me and Kim managed to swim with Dolphins..... it was amasing.... there was hardly anyone at the beach and me and Kim swam out to a boat and the next thing a Dolphin swam between us, and then popped up again infront of Kim!!!!!!!
So tonight, i have been invited to sing at our local bar with a Brazillian band who i sang with the other evening, but after a few beers, so i'm not too sure if i will get up this evening..... anyways............
Love to you all and hopefully we can get some pictures sorted out soon...........
Thanks again for all of the Birthday wishes....
Love Hayley and Kim
ps......
