Kim and Hayley's Excellent Adventure
HELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
sorry its been a fricking while but we have been a...travelling loads and...b....too busy having fun..ha ha!!
so we left you in praia da pipa...hayleys birthday...went well hangovers..etc..and then we headed to natal to wait 5hours...to fortaleza on abus for 8hours then wait at bus station for another 5hours to go to jercoacoara............woo hoo!! told yas we was having fun yall.....
so 4hours into our bus journey we were herded off like cattle into a 4x4 beast of a truck....to continue our great adventure over the sand dunes ace venturer styleeeee for another 2 HOURS!!!! yep sore bums all round dudes...
jericoacoara is right up the north east of brazil....so alot of travellers kinda flake out on this journey...but we being us carried on and we are sooooooooo glad we did...is an amazing place...sandy...donkeys...dunes...and thats about it....no really it was an amazing place we did a buggy tour to the lagoons which was like a mooooooooooovie.....we stopped in one place where they hadda sound track on straight outta the eighties....CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE on a stick or what!!!
speaking of cheese on a stick if hayley has a addiction its cheese onna stick ....explanation....brazil...what would you really wanna eat on a fricking sizzling beach?????....oh i know....erm a slab o cheese on a fricking stick burnt on a bunsun .......YUMMY!
sorry back to the travelling ......watched the sun go down on thee biggest dune whilst crazy people capoeira n stuff...then hadda funny party consisting of caipirihinnas....and we tredged back to fortaleza...to catch a flight to sao paulo......a 6hour flight instead of 48hour bus journey from hell....brazilian time about a week.....
soooo not content with the travelling we have done thus far we thought what the hay...lets wait another 6hours in sao paulo for another 12hour bus trip to iguassu falls........
we arrived in foz do iguassu bout 8 in the morning lookin like chucky and his bride...and joined a scottish couple to the youth hostel which was like a butlins camp gone wrong.....actually we kinda liked it until the swimming pool turned our bikinnis green.......oh and my hair!!! ha ha ha! so now we looked like the hulks daughters.......
we checked out the brazilian side of the falls which is the grand over view of the waterfalls....and the argentinian side which is the photo above...personally we thought the argentinian side was better...we didnt even have enough time to see all of the park...it is collossal!
so from here we caught a bus for another 12 hours to campo grande....and met a wicked girl called kate from the land of ozz...we arrived and booked a tour of the pantanal for 4days and 3nights...it was another 6hour journey from there to our camp...literally in the middle of nowhere.... the first 2hours in a air con bus...the next four in a real old 4x4 bummpy as...truck! was a really cool journey we saw so much wildlife on the way...we saw caimans..alligators to you and me...storks...water pigs..deer...loads of bulls wandering about...and mozzies...DAMN!!!
we arrived to our camp....hadda lovely dinner...danced around a fire like indians..hayley hadda singalong by the campfire...and we flaked out in our 21 person hut swinging in hammocks like bats in a cave....is like being in one big comedy bed!
we were awoken army stylee at 5 30 am PRONTO!! to go on our first trek of the day....i dont think jaguars like clummsy forest gump foreigners...as we didnt see any...but we saw loadsa monkeys that shout really loud at silly gringoes...armadilloes...2 types...armadilloes crunchy on thee outside soft in the middle..ARMADILLOES!!!.....yep saw them...and loadsa butterflies...deer...coaties which are like a doctor jekyl and hyde version of a raccoon...squirrel....er....water pigs...macaws red and the blue...
after 4hours of trekking, tripping up and being bitten to b*****y...we chilled at camp had lunch and covered ourselves in a fruit dye called bla bla bla.....it goes on invisible....yeah so 20minutes later we looked like right rodneys...not quite the pantanal indian native look we were after!!! we went back out on a trek again.....this time we saw alligators...herons...more coaties and medicinal plants...
the next day we went pirranha fishing.....yes the man eating fish that can eat a man.....so we loaded our bamboo fishing rods with pigs hearts and wadded out into the same water up to our armpits....dodging alligators oh and did i mention.....anaconda????!!!!!! so er a little hairy when you drop your meat right next to your silly gringo legs....in a word we run/wadded like hell!!!
hayley caught a pirranha ....and then i caught a sardine.........A BLOOMING SARDINE????!!!!!!! IN THE BRAZILIAN PANTANAL????!!!! so after much laughter....the competition was ON!! ....i caught not one but two big pirranhas....YESSSSSS!!! THATS TWO BIG PIRRANHAS!!! woo hoo woo hoo!!
yeah was a little excited.....next that day we went horse riding and was brilliant.....i had the blooming comedy pony...which wouldnt move if you stuck something up its you know what.....so whilst hayley was having the time of her life galloping of into the sunset....me and kate looked more like something out of steptoe and son......anyway really lovely scenery, er hem....
that night we went alligator spotting and the guide looked as if he had caught one steve irwin styleee....and said he missed unfortunately...then lobbed it onto my shoulder....yeah..dont think quite all of brazil heard me screaming like a girl....wasn't expecting that one! at least i held it and steve o irwin sent it to sleep by stroking its belly...ahhhhhhhh!!
next day we trekked again...more wildlife...and back on the road to corrumba the border town of brazil .....we really loved our time at the pantanal...and they offered me a job...you never know!
so corrumba....we are now joined by kate the ozzy...and two funny dutch guys we met on the tour...casper and jasper....we demanded passports thats their real names...honest.
and we crossed the border to quijarro, bolivia to catch the death train to santa cruz....stinky!
so arrived in santa cruz...22 hours later...and cruised around ...santa cruz...
for kates birthday we all stayed at a 4star hotel!! wooooooooo posh eh??!! dont worry mum and dad we didnt pay!!! so we abused the pool, sauna, room service, sky tv, HOT SHOWERS!! which were the best bit....and comfy beds..ahhhhhhhhh!! then flew to la paz which took only one hour instead of 20 plus hours on the bus...for a couple of us dollars extra...WORTH IT!
so here we are....la paz, a crazy hussle bussle of a city...it feels like real south america, where we are its 3500 meters above sea level...so it takes a bit of getting used to the altitude...there are market stalls all around and ladys wearing full native dress, they are the amayra indians which are the biggest population to bolivia...we visited their black market which is further up on the altiplano...this is where the poorest live and we stuck out like right gringoes...we were thee only tourists wandering about...actually i found the market was similar to brick lane in the east end!!
today we took a tour to the valle de la luna...valley of the moon..where the ancient rock formations created by the sediment of the seas er....millions of years ago..look like moon. we then climbed the peak of the chacaltaya which is 5400 meters above sea level!! my parachute jump was at 3800 just to give you an idea of the bloming height we climbed!! actually we got a lift to the ski base at 5300!!!! which is the worlds highest ski resort ....no longer open as due to global warming the glacier has retracted.
the effects of altitude sickness hit poor old hayley quite badly....but shes okay now eating ice cream!.....will be attempting the worlds most dangerous road on mountain bike on sunday....will let yu know how that goes! gotta go as have cramp in both fingers....dont laugh am still a two finger typist.......
ciao for now amigos!!!! kimbo and haylo!!!XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
