Kim and Hayley's Excellent Adventure
Hellooooooooooooooooo........................
Righty-o... me thinks Kimmy left you all in La Paz and we have oh so much to tell..................
Right so Me and Kate (Aussie traveller friend) finally got over the Altitude sickness... not so good for poor kimmy who was chomping at the bit to get on and investigate the city, as me and Kate couldnt walk two step together without thinking our hearts were ready to burst.............
However, we attempted to ride bikes on the most deadly road in the world..... rightly named the death road!!!!oooooooooo i hear you all say.......
Well it was really cool, yep very cold to start with and the nice little company gave us water-proofs as it was raining when we reached 4000 metres, but unfortunately they only seemed to be wind proof.... so very wet and cold we decended down a very steep rough cobbled road for about 3 hours.... numb bums to say the least, but amazing sceanery, we went from very bleck mountians to jungle and waterfalls... just beautiful................
So, back to La Paz, and more shopping to be done.... the... the...the...the... best place in the world to shop as you can barter all you like and its about 14 Bolivianos to the good old stirling pound!!!! So somne presents coming home for you all!!! You all like colourful Alpacca hats yeah??????
So not feeling like we were high enough in the world we decided to catcha a bus to a very nice little town, and go on a tour through the Salar.............. the salt lakes of Bolivia!!! Probably about 4500m above sea level.
Anyways, we arrived, followed a group of Israelies, (cheap deals) and managed to get sorted with a lovely little man called Oscar..............
So there was me, Kimmy, and Kate, along with Casper and Jasper (the dutchies) and our lovely little friend Guy squeezed into a top of the range (Bolivian stylee) 4x4............
The first day..............lots of driving through pretty bleak landscape, but lots of photos of lamas on mud hills and that sort of thing. The first night was interesting, as our guide hadnt booked enough places for everyone in the hostel, and i say hostel in the loosest way as it was pretty much a barn, which from the isle we were used to but i dont think i have seen so many people complain about sleeping on a mattress on the floor....... so moving on and a 4am start to see ...............hummmm..... not really sure......oh yeah some Guisers, but we could really see them as it was dark but they were cool to stand by, and warm as it was a lovely minus 10 i think!!!!!
So sun rise was pretty spectacular, and we then headed to some hot springs where true stylee us three girlies were the first to get out of our wooly hats and socks and ponchos and run down into the hottest springs............. needless to say we did not want to get out of them!!!!
More mountians and beautiful sceanery, and we got to base camp for the second night, this time enough beds for a small army, which it actually felt like we were travelling with as there was us 6 and then about 15 israelies...........(ok enough puns)
So another 4am rise, happy little campers hurded into our 4x4 and off to the salt lakes for the most amazing sunrise ever!!!!!!
Water lays about 1 inch deep on the salt so the mountians look like islands in the distance and the sun reflected in the water so it really felt like we were driving through the sea or on ice or something..............
Pancakes for Brunch and we arrived on a little hill type thing that looked like an island but it wa covered with massive catus's...just beautiful, and dont panic phgotos will hopefully be arriving shortly.
Then another hour drive and we arrived in what seemed like a lake, but it was salt as far as you could see.... just like a massive piece of ice!!! apparently this was a great place to stop and do a comedy photo shoot.. comedy as the perspective is all over the show, so kim could stand behind me a few paces and it looked like she was on my head..................
So lots of funny photos......... and many props.... and we had ourselves a nice little photo shoot............. Kim standing in my hand like a little fairy..... again photos to follow!!!
So back to La Paz, on a hellish journey, but we finally arrived, only to do more shopping and post our lovely gifts.
Then off to Copacobana. No not in Rio in Brazil but on the edge of lake titicaca, where spiritually a very important place for the incas............. Kim Filled me in on the journey.
So we arrved in the funkiest little town. Hippy's as far as you could see, so me and kim where in our element!!!! especially as all we seem to wear these days are massive ponchos, leg warmers /(oh yes they are coming back in, you just wait and see) and stupid wooly hats!!
So the first night, uhhhhummmmm, well lets say for arguments sake a couple of glasses of wine later, and we all managed to get locked out of our hostel............yep, completely locked out, so some sas training came into hand and Kimbo was the first with a leg up over the wall into a garden and then onto a very nice little balcony and the front door opened........ just like that!!!! good ole Kimmy!!!! thats my girl!!!
So all feeling very happy and awake we arranged to catch a lovely little boat over to Isla de Sol, which is where the Incas originated from.
We arrived on the north side of the island, and hiked for about 4 hours past Inca ruins, and over the most beautiful little trail, with winging Dutchies in tow, to arrive on the south side of the isle.
The boys decide to leave us and spend a night away from the little girls so we checked into a sweet little hostel and watched the sun go down over a very spiritual place.... all good.
So back to town the next day and we caught a bus directly to Peru..........
This chapeter will have to be completed on my return as i have to go and pick up my laundry...classic...... and tomorrow we are off to Machu Pichu!!! whooo hoooo finally.....
Anyways we will tell you all about that at the end of the week..
Take it easy and much love to everyone.... ogh anmd swiss Kimmy is still alive!!!!!
Much love always Kimmy and Hayleeeeee
