Hello cobbers, we have now been in Phnom Penh for 3 days and it is one big, dirty, smelly, heaving hole! Basically a giant version of Wednesday's home ground (apart from the heaving bit, given that they average 12 people and a pigeon per home game).
In fairness though, the river front where we are staying is nice, and there is lots to do. And a mug of Angkor beer is less than 40 pence!
On Monday we snaffled some bargains at the Central and Russian markets, and yesterday we visited the Killing Fields of the Khmer Rouge, followed by the S-21 centre, where the prisoners were held and tortured. Very interesting but equally disturbing. To cheer ourselves up we went to a non-profit restaurant called Friends, which is run by former street children and their teachers. Was the best food we've had on our trip to date, brilliant.
Even better was our tuk tuk driver, who commented that Kieran looks like the footballer Nani. This driver was himself the spit of said footballer, who also happens to be his favourite player in the world! Better still, the driver's name was Nee-Na! You couldn't make it up.
Today we went to a Khmer cooking class; Emma learned some great new recipes to rustle up for Kieran when we get back, and Kieran didn't make a tit of himself, so all was successful!
Kieran is tomorrow getting up at 8am to go shooting some AK-47s! Emma doesn't want to go as for an extra charge you can shoot live ducks, which she doesn't want to see other people doing. Quackers!
Then it's a 6 hour bus to Siem Reap at lunchtime. Fun fun fun in the sun. Ta-ra chucks!

Lucy P Hello!! Emmi I got your text the other day & replied but think you may be having mobile issues (or ignoring me!), I also sent you an email update so try and check when you have time, I don't want you thinking I don't love you anymore! I just read your last 2 updates. I love the Nani thing- no you look like nani, no you look like nani, no you look like nani more!! Also the Cambodian woman that shouted big noses at you, class! And Emmi not wanting to witness duck shooting, the RSPCA would be proud of you. xx
