From Donna and Clyde: We have spent the last few days with Brittany touring round the southern coast of England. We are sure that Devon and Sussex etc are absolutely lovely, but cannot confirm as they were shrouded in mist the entire time, so we could barely see the road in front of us, let alone the surrounding countryside. We spent a night in Brighton and took the kids to the extremely tacky Brighton Pier and had fish and chips at what Heston Blumenthal apparently calls "the spiritual home of fish and chips" and marvelled at the truly hideous Royal Palace. We dropped Brittany off yesterday and then spent yesterday afternoon and evening back in London enjoying a lovely late spring day (finally and ironically on our last day) wandering around Kensington Garden and Hyde Park and joining the masses of people shopping on Oxford and Regent Streets. Since we were last here (two weeks ago) the streets have been filled with Union Jack bunting and flags, which we presume is to celebrate the Queen's jubilee, and it really looks spectacular! Off to New York today so very excited about that, but the last few weeks seem to be flying by far too quickly. It is Mother's Day today (Happy Mother's Day Gran and Nana) and my birthday tomorrow, so hopefully Molly and Toby will be in their best behaviour (hint hint) for the next 54 hours (taking into account time zone changes I manage to get an extremely long Mother's Day this year). Last year I had my 40th in Melbourne, this year I have my 41st in New York - where to for next year??? We have decided that it is probably not a bad thing that we are leaving Britain today as we have just seen the news that Pudsy, a dancing dog, has won the latest series of "Britain's Got Talent" and will be performing at the opening ceremony of the Olympics - what a joke!!!!
From Molly: Molly has nothing to report today - she is too busy laughing about Pudsy.
From Toby: We went to Brighton Pier and we went to the arcade and won tickets and money and exchanged the tickets for bubble mix. We got Brighton Rock.
Best and worst things about touring with Brittany:
Donna: Best - the freedom of not being tied to a set schedule and going where we wanted when we wanted. Worst - tie between the weather and a 15 day long bad hair day!
Clyde: Best - the surprising places we ended up under Shirley's guidance. Worst - the British drivers, its as if we had a big 'Cut me off' sign hanging on the side and Brittany's handling, it was something else.
Molly: Best - Camera Obscura in Scotland. Worst - the beds.
Toby: Best - Camera Obscura. Worst - the showers.
