London
From Donna & Clyde: We arrived at Westminster Tube Station and exited to find ourselves in the throngs of Londoners watching the final mile of the London Marathon. We quickly dropped our stuff at our hotel and rushed back just in time to see the Elite Men coming through. If this is a sign of the way London is going to react to the Olympics, then it is going to be amazing. We then headed back over Westminster Bridge and went on the London Eye before heading back to join the crowds supporting the 37,000 "ordinary" people running the marathon and wandered around the streets and parks, taking in the sights and the crowds, in what was an awesome intro to London for Molly and Toby.
Unfortunately Monday was a cold and wet London day so we tried to keep inside as much as possible, with a trip to Madame Tussards and shopping at Harrods etc. The highlight for Molly and Toby definitely seemed to be the amazing toy store Hamleys, which they loved!
Today we have spent the morning at the Tower of London and are now having some down time before heading off to Wicked tonight!
Toby is still obsessed with food, but has partly swapped his obsession with a new obsession to identify streets from Monopoly!
From Molly:
Over the past 3 days in London we have done some amazing things like the London Eye, Tower of London, watched the London Marathon, been searching for Monoply streets and lots more. But my favourites were definetinley Madam Tussards Wax Musem and Hamleys toy shop.
At Madame Tussards we saw tons of cool people like Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Robert Pattinson, the Incredible Hulk and lots more, but the highlight was the movie at the end. It was a Marvel superhero movie in 4D. The 4D was great and whenever Wolverine shot out his nail things youd get a poke it the back and when Spiderman shot out his spiderwebs cold air would blow on your head and ankles and when someone sneezed or glass shattered water would pour down on you. Then we went to Hamelys Toy store. It has 7 floors. The bottom floor is gadgets. The first floor is new things. The second floor is toddlers. The 3rd floor is girls which has a beauty parlour where you can get your hair and nails done. On the 4th floor is boys and the 5th is being renovated then the 7th floor is a... sweet shop with soooooooooo many lollies. A cool thing we saw was a paint blob like thing that you blow up like a balloon. Then we went to St James Park where I saw the cutest thing ever a ... squirrel. Tonight we are going to a musical called Wicked - its based on the Wizard of Oz.
From Toby: On Sunday we caught a train to London. Once we got to the legendary Kings Cross station, we went to our hotel to drop off our bags. Then we went to watch the London marathon and a Kenyan won. Then we went to the London Eye and Molly wanted to get the orange capsule but we were one away. Then we went back to our hotel and had a good nights sleep.
On Monday we went to Madame Tussards which is a wax sculpture museum. We saw heaps of famous stars like Miley Cyrus and Justin Beiber and The Hulk. We went to an Avengers 4D movie in Madame Tussards and there was back poking by your seats when Wolverine's knives came out of his hands and you got sprayed by water when a robot hit the water. When Spiderman put out his web, you got hit by sprayed water too. Then we went to the toy shop Hamleys. Hamleys has seven storeys. It was awesome! There were sales guys selling flying stuff and magic stuff and on the fifth floor there was a sweet shop. There were all kinds of lollies and humungeous lollipops and gob stoppers the size of your hands. There were cups that you could fill all kinds of lollies in them, like jelly babies, sour worms, letters and coke bottles and heaps more. We got a flying saucer that you control and a yo-yo that lights up and has three attachments. When you do it in the dark the string turns into a neon laser. It is the number one best selling toy in the world and is in the Guinness Book of Records.
On Tuesday, we went to the Tower of London. We went to a Torturing Tower and there was a machine that could stretch you as flat as a pancake and they would do that if you didn't answer their questions and tell your secrets. There was a squeezing machine with your knees on the floor, your shins against your thighs and your thighs against your chest and your hands tucked in. You go under the squeezer thing and they screw it down and it is the most painful thing in the Torturing Tower so most people told their secrets straight away. Tonight we are going to Wicked, a musical that Mum wanted to go to and we are taking our lollies from the sweet shop.
