Vancouver Day 1
I arrived around lunchtime and was immediately drawn to the water. One of the nice aspects of the city is that the ocean is everywhere, and can be approached from different angles. I hiked along Sunset Beach towards Stanley Park, leaving the shoreline at third beach, and taking the Tatlow trail through the park's interior. There I encountered my first red cedars. I had never seen trees this big! Absolutely breathtaking. The presence of a living being that is several hundred years old is awe-inspiring and changes your perspective.
On the trail I met a friendly racoon who was begging for food (I hate people who feed wild animals and get them used to it - grrrr).
Back to the hostel and an early night. I certainly needed a break from going out at night after a week of conference.
