Today we had a very long day driving to Las Vegas. There was much breathtaking scenery on the way out of Yosemite including the particularly beautiful Tenaya Lake. Once away from Yosemite we travelled across some amazingly desolate country on long windy roads, up and down mountains in the desert. We stopped at a little diner in Benton Hot Springs where we had grilled cheese sandwiches. Benton is on a crossroad and unfortunately, I think I chose the wrong road when we pulled out which added a couple more hours to the trip. At one stage, on a lonely road through a small, tight canyon, I wouldn't have been surprised if we had been ambushed by Indians.
About 7pm, we finally reached Vegas which surprised me with its size and the number of freeways and amount of traffic. We were exhausted by the time we checked into our hotel, Tropicana Las Vegas.
