Up bright and early this morning- 530am for a guided sunrise bush walk. As I pulled back the curtains, I realized the head ranger may just have a drinking problem, a whole row of empty rum bottles on his window cil ....no mozzie bites last night which is no surprise really as I'm still suffocating from the 'odorless' spray...time for breakfast before the wander through nature...
Waiting outside the bedroom door this morning was that fecken cheetah again...must have liked the smell of the repellent. Two more cheetahs joined up with us for the walk but started scrapping with our resident one, so were not allowed come on the walk...jaysus they are some powerful cats, the rangers were whacking them with rifles to separate them but to no avail. Eventually they stopped with our resident cheetah slightly injured but nothing too serious; she can lick it better!
First animal we came across was some sort of venomous snake, ( later told it was a puff adder) that was enough information for me to walk on. Next up was a game of giraffe dung spitting contest- yep, seeing how far you could spit s***. I did Ireland proud with a second place finish behind some Yank- no surprise really, he was a tobacco chewing redneck!
Very uneventful walk, spent most of it trying to guess which animal s***e we came across as well as being handed different plants and flowers to smell, which led to excessive sneezing for about five minutes. All we saw was one little tortoise and a few hippos, so with my nose running and my mouth tasting of s***e, we made our way back to the lodge for breakfast.
