Was trying to avoid the greasy fry up this morning, but just after breakfast had finished, Bulli brought a plate full of bacon and eggs to my room- obviously these were the leftovers; still devoured though! That's six days in a row having a fry up- two more to go before it's time to move on from this bacon paradise!
Headed off for a jog (more like a fast walk) after the feed around the neighborhood. The guesthouse is located about 4km from the city center and it seems to be in an area where old folk live out their final years. Very very quiet....Every house is well equipped with security alarms and most have barb wire fences and guard dogs for added protection. This area is never targeted by burglars according to Bulli, but you never know...and there are some pretty plush looking houses here! All the locals here seem pretty friendly though, waving and smiling at me- once again I'm in a country where I'm part of the minority group so a bit of a local attraction!
As is the norm I got lost again on my jog, but as is even more common I somehow managed to come across Maccy D's in the arse end of nowhere! This time I resisted( waiting until Durban...) but I did grab a snack in Steers- South Africa's answer to Supermacs or Lotteria it seems- rotten!
Took a stroll around the local shops today and I am now fully stocked with mozzie repellent and factor50 for next weeks trip to Kruger Park. KG was telling me to be careful of the snakes in the park, especially at night, they are everywhere...where the fack is St. Patrick??
Off to the pool now for a dip and a siesta, 31 degrees Celsius here today- that's too many degrees for my fragile skin..factor 50 better do its job!
Nerve wrecking evening ( well not for me!) in the guesthouse. Bafana Bafana Vs Mali in the quarter finals of the African Nations Cup. Castle beers were flowing, unfortunately the standard of football was not! Anyways, Mali won on penalties so all the hype was an anti climax- I secretly want Ivory Coast to win anyway, seen as their flag is the same as Ireland's once you turn it upside down- good enough reason for me!
