Well, Wi Fi issues continue. It's not too good up here at Nuwara Eliya.
We left Kandy this morning at about 8.45am and after some photo stops we did a quick tour of the Mackwoods Tea plantation. We have not previously seen inside the processing works of a Tea manufacturing operation (missed out on this when we were in Darjeeling).
Quite interesting and we had several cups of Orange Pekeo tea whilst there - bought some too.
On we went finally arriving at the King Fern Bungalow - our stop for the night. We have the "Xanadu" family rooms consisting of two double bedrooms, sitting area, bathroom and separate on-suite. There is a huge balcony area off the rooms looking out over the town proper and the surrounding hills. Nuwara Eliya is at 1,189 metres and we are a bit further up-hill again. Don't know why but I always feel somehow more 'at home' with a bit of altitude.
We had a nice lunch here and will wander off for dinner before long. Check out time tomorrow is at mid-day and we need to go about 9 klms to the town of Nanu Oya where we board our luxury train for Ella.
Hang on............the last train was a luxury one and that was a minor nightmare.
Here is a genuine exchange between Des and Wasantha (the Owner) when we were being shown the room:-
Desley: 'But the room is full of mosquitos!'
Wasantha: 'Not mosquitos Madam - only flies'
Desley: 'Oh, that's OK then - we can stand flies & cockroaches but not mosquitos.'
Travel broadens you alright.
