Hi.

We caught a mini bus from Anuradhapura to Dambulla today - it took about one hour & 15 minutes for the trip in this type of bus. Other makes take two hours so we experienced a bit of reckless driving - a lot less worriesome than some other bus trips we have managed to survive in the past though.

We are staying at a Guesthouse which shall remain nameless for the time being, mainly because I am about to bag it. We checked this one on the Net, read the Trip Advisor reviews (most good / some bad) and booked it over the 'phone without fully checking the prices or room quality.

Well, the room prices are OK for what it is but the "Restaurant" prices are way over the odds by a factor of at least 3 - and there is nowhere else near here to use as an alternative as this place is on the outskirts of town and it has rained on and off since we arrived, thereby preventing an easy stroll to a competitor

The room also is the worst yet, despite showing some signs of a recent renovation. Noisy too. Ah well, we can't win them all but might apply a bit of the old Caveat Emptor in future.

Weather permitting we will be off to see some of the nearby Cave Temples tomorrow - we're always up for a bit of cave templing action.
