After having a well deserved sleep we ventured into Toronto city centre on foot, which wasn't far from the hostel at all. Our location of accommodation is great; we have a small shopping centre directly opposite the hostel and the city centre itself is about a fifteen/twenty minute walk. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I first would be with Toronto city; I expected huge high rise buildings, but there's not mant I'd call sky scrapers and the outskirts of town seem much more picturesque thanthe city itself, which I found odd as I'm used to the city outskirts to be a dump!
Toronto has a lovely atmosphere - much livelier than Vancouver and trendier too.
We walked all the way downto the harbour and saw Toronto island from a distance. The leaves on the trees have turned to the beautiful Autumn colours ans so the parks through Toronto look stunning at the moment! It was suprisingly warm today too!
After in and out of a few shops we headed back to the hostel by subway as by this time the rain poured down; the heaviest I've seen rain in a while (back home), but the subway was extemely easy to use.
Toronto doesn't seem to be as big as I had imagined it to be and we seem to be getting our bearings okay, so hopefully getting about shouldn't be a problem.
So, we finally get a freezer in the hostel - this is a first since being away for 6weeks! This means we're able to stock up on food rather keeping popping to the shops for fresh food daily. We finally get to buy pizza and chips!(This I'm megga excited about!!!) We pre heat the oven - whack the pizza on the shelf - go to put the chips in...but wait....there seems to be nothing to put the chips on....there's no trays! What's the point in having an oven with no possible means of cooking anything?! This meant we had the option of either putting our chips on a dinner plate (that wasn't even microwavable, let alone to bake in an oven!) or to put in a frying pan! (Having no chips was NOT an option). I was up for using the frying pan in the oven, but Amy made me see sense and said that they wouldn't miss one dinner plate if it did shatter into a thousand pieces whilst in the oven.
Luckily everything cooked fine and nothing got broken. I have to say that the pizza was dribble sensation!
