It was an early start again today as we were heading to Queenstown with lots of stops on the way.
Our first stop was at 'Thunder Falls' for a quick look at the thundering waterfall. Due to it being raining for days, there was plenty of water!!! Then we stopped at 'The Gates of Haast' for some more scenic photos.
The bus journey was wicked and the views were stunning. New Zealand is such a gorgeous place!! We stopped at Lake Wanaka for some food and had a little time to wander around and then stopped again to look over Lake Wanea - beautiful.
Our last stop was at the AJ Hackett bungy. Some of the people on our bus got off to do a jump so we all got off too to spectate! I think the bungy was 43m and to be honest didn't look too scary. There was a guy that did the jump totally naked. It was hilarious. He was told to wave to the camera before the jump and he couldn't even move his body as he was shaking so much due to the absolutely freezing temperature!!!!! He was blue by the time he had finished the jump, hee hee!
We then arrived in Queenstown around 6pm. What a beautiful place. Just like how you would imagine a ski resort. Totally surrounded by snow capped mountains and lots of wooden buildings.
We checked in to our 5 star hostel which had a tv and ensuite - how fab!!! We met one of our room mates, Julia from Germany and then started on our wine. That night we went to 'The Buffalo Club, 'World Bar' and 'Winnies'. What a wicked night! There were around 8 of us from the magic bus out that night and we had such a giggle. 'World Bar' is famous for their teapots. Basically you buy yourself a teapot, (which is filled with lots of alcohol),and you get shot glasses and you have to shot the whole teapot. They were delicious, got quite a few photos of them and ended up having at least one teapot every night in Queenstown!
On our stagger home from our first night out we stopped for a 'Ferg Burger'. Famously known for their size!!!!!!! Very tasty indeed!
The next few days were just spent chilling out as the last week had been so busy jumping from place to place. We caught up with our washing, did some retail therapy with my trusted friend 'Mr Mastercard' and walked around Queenstown for a nosey. The weather was awful and it just rained and rained and rained apart from our last day. I was desperate to do some snow boarding but there wasn't enough snow yet to do it. I was supposedly a month too early - defo want to come back to NZ at somepint for that!
We booked ourselves in for a 15,000ft sky dive but unfortunately it was called off on two seperate days due to the weather - totally gutted!!!!! We are going to try and do a sky dive up North if the weather is better though. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
In the last 3 days in Queenstown I have met 3 Scots, thats about the same amount I met in the whole 9 months in Oz! So lovely to hear the accent and to speak like a proper Scot again, totally missed it!
Heading to Dunedin early tomorrow morning and I am really looking forward to it. Dunedin stands for 'Edinburgh of the south' and all the street names are the same as in Edinburgh. It has a castle and also has ghost walks. It is supposedly very similar to Edinburgh so I might feel like I'm at home for a few days!
