We left Queenstown and were met by our new driver, 'YoungJoeYoung'. Very bizzare but a really nice old man. The journey to Dunedin wasn't too bad and we had a few stop offs on the way for food and sight seeing.
We arrived in Dunedin just in time to head to the Cadbury's factory. Mmmm. We booked on to one of the tours and were so excited when we walked through the door to be greeted by millions of Crunchie bars - the smell was amazing! Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take cameras through the factory so no photos of the chocolate im afraid. We looked like dafties anyway as we had to all wear hair nets and the boys had to wear beard nets too, hee hee!
We were shown how chocolate was made, saw curly wurlys being packed into boxes, watched the machines mix up the chocolate - you can just imagine the smell of the place - heaven! We were given lots of free chocolate but to be honest it just wasn't the same as cadburys back home!
After the trip we decided to head to the pub for some wine as we were booked in for a Ghost tour later that night.
A bottle or two of wine later, we headed to the meeting point for the Ghost tour. It was pouring with rain and the wind was wild, we were also a little drunk!!! We met our tour guide and were so nervous and scared for the tour. We were taken around the streets of Dunedin, walked through church yards, down little alley ways and into derelict buildings. The tour wasn't scary atall!!!! It was just all stories - nobody jumping out!
We were taken into a theatre building belonging to Andrew Carnegie, how exciting. I was well chuffed that he was a fellow Scot as nobody else had heard of him apart from me! We went down to the basement in the dark and told some spooky stories. At one point the tour guide flashed his torch and said 'Oh no, watch your feet', we looked down to find a plastic cat on the floor - what?!?! Was that supposed to scare us!!! Very bizarre tour, nothing like the ghost walks in Edinburgh!
Anyway, we went for a famous 'Velvet Burger' and I must admit that they were even better than the 'Ferg Burgers' in Queenstown! Then it was back to the pub for some more wine and to get warm - imagine walking around the streets for 2 hours at night in the wind and rain - not pleasant!
The next day we had a long lie which was amazing, not had one of them in a long time!!! Then we did a litttle bit if shopping and walked around Dunedin. I saw the Robert Burns statue, Princes Street, George Street and a beautiful cathedral.
We were so fed up of the rain and wind and also hailstones that we decided to head to the cinema! Bliss, however, NZ don't have sweet popcorn either, just salted!!! What is with Oz and NZ and their popcorn?!?
It's going to be a quite night tonight as we are up early for the magic bus tomorrow. We are off to a place called Lake Tekapo and are dead excited because there are hot pools right beside our accommodation - can't wait to be warm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
