Week 8
On Tuesday 22nd nov 2011 I decided to leave HK and was going to go meet Debbie who would be in Shangri-La. North of the Yunnan province. So I made my way to Hung Hom station in HK and brought a ticket to Guangzhou.
When I got to Guangzhou I tried to find a place to buy a ticket to Kunming but was having no luck so decided to find this sunflower home. So took the metro and found the place. It was situated a busy location with local shops and local food stalls all over.
I checked in, the hostel was in a local building so was nice to see the inside of where a Chinese person would live, it was quite big about 3 bedrooms, two were dorms style and one was a double room.
I met Steve and we wandered out to a local ticket office and I brought my train ticket for Kunming. We then went to a shopping place, a place I had already been to last time I was here. On the way back to the hostel we stumbled across a park that had loads going on, people singing, dancing and playing games.
The next day I again went out with Steve and went to another shopping area that I had been to and then we walked to an old part of town, with very British buildings and gardens.
I then headed back to the hostel as I needed to sort out my bank as they had put a stop on my account, even though I told them I was travelling.
Once all sorted I made my way to the Train station. I met a family who spoke broken English, good job I met them as the gate changed numbers and they told me to go with them. I finally got onto my train and had the bottom bunk which was a bonus however it was not a good nights journey as I had a guy next to me who was snoring, at one stage I pulled his pillow off him to wake him, but the snoring only stop for a little while. So annoying
