Week 3
Day 12 - The next day we left for a 23 hour journey to Xian. We did our best and stayed awake until 9.30pm, was a long journey, crammed into a carriage with a lot of Chinese people.
Plus lucky us….. we had the top bunks, right at the top, couldn't even sit up. But it's an experience.
Most of the journey we sat in a different carriage until we got kicked out, then headed back to ours and sat by our beds.
Day 13 - Got woken up at 8am when the Chinese decided to blast music and turn the lights on….we were not impressed, after that we spent the next few hours just watching other people on the carriage. Have to say all the Chinese do is eat….all the time…if it's not sunflower seeds, its chicken feet, noodles or some sort of crap that you would never consider.
So we got into Xian and were met by Debbie who was holding a Banner for us so we could find her, which read 'Blondie, sissy and the pretty girl'. This was really nice and great to see her. We walked over to the hostel and checked in.
I got Debbie and I moved into the boy's dorm and then we went out for something to eat. Ended up eating in this Muslim restaurant and have to say the noodles were amazing. We then headed to the Xian city wall which looked like a fort. We hired out bicycles and just cycled the whole way round, it is about 13.7 km and took us about 1 hour 30 to cycle. But it is pretty impressive especially when you can see the old town and the new town.
Day 14 - Went and saw the Terracotta Army it's a shame that they have made it so commercial around the area however seeing the warriors is just out of this world, one of those things you can't describe until you see them for yourselves. But it was very incredible seeing them all lined up in trenches.
The few days have just been chilled, brought tickets for Chengdu for Saturday (22nd Oct) just been trying restaurants the food again is brilliant.
Cant believe its only been 3 weeks , have done so much in 2 weeks, nice to relax and stay put in Xian for a few days before we head off again.
So on 22nd October 2011 was our last day in Xian. The day before we hired out bicycles thinking we were pro's especially riding around Beijing, how wrong were we!! Man!! bus drivers are crazy here, nearly got squashed between two buses, I have never cursed so much!! The boys couldnt stop laughing. So a crazy day on a bike but have to say it was much easier to ride a bike in Beijing.
