Hey guys! We are in Sydney. It is AWESOME! We love it! We got the overnight train but it was really really hard to sleep so when we arrived at 7am in the morning we were pretty knackered. We had booked the Funk House Hostel previously which is in King's Cross which we were told is like the party central where all the backpackers stay - and this is definitely an accurate description considering that there were still people in clubs drinking when we were walking up the street in the morning! i think every other shop was labelled 'adult shop' or 'massage parlour' ...anyways so we found our hostel but were a bit scared to go in at this point so we went to this cafe for breakfast - but right next door was this bar with a balcony full of lads still drinking (by this point i swear it was about 9.30am!) So then we went to Funkhouse and got given this gorilla with the luggage key called Hamish... all very weird... freshened up a bit, dumped our bags and went into Sydney because we weren't allowed in the room yet.

We went on the monorail to try and get our bearings and got off near Darling Harbour which is gorgeous. The bay is so peaceful and yet so much going on at the same time, with cafes and bars etc. there was actually a live marching band (we think a school or something) - the standard was amazing! so we chilled out a bit there and then decided to go on one of these speed boat ride things as it was birthday. Thinking it was a little overpriced, we were a little dubious but oh my god it was fantastic! we went right round to Harbour Bridge and had an amazing view of the Opera House and then right out to small beaches, being spun around and got soaking wet! was sooo much fun... although there was this really weird scary man sat infront of us who kept trying to rock the boat really hard...

so we came back, soaking wet, hair looking awful (bridget jones style!) and remember also that we hadnt actually slept since friday night - and so by this time it was really time for a rest so we went back to the hostel and crashed out. we were sharing a room with 2 other boys but they hadnt arrived yet. the hostel was ok... had a really bad smell in the room (but then again that could have been us) and the showers were literally like this curtain, with like no hooks or any space to put clothes for when you came out.. and the blankets were kinda stained but otherwise it was a really cool place. all the doors had funky pictures on them. so we slept for a bit, then got showered and got ready to go out. met the boys we were staying with - who were doing the pass but the other way round from cairns to sydney. had something to eat and then had some drink before heading out.

was SUCH a good night! won't go into too much detail but bascially met so many people and danced til the early hours until we really had to go to bed. all the clubs are amazing! the music is awesome and most of them dont even close! in one of the places the drinks are in teapots and you have shot glasses with them- how weird!

got up for breakfast next day but unfortunately managed to lose the key between using the bathroom and check out - complete mystery but i managed to put it down somewhere - or the boys nicked it, not really sure! so had to pay $20 dollars... so along with a hangover and no sleep we were in a pretty bad mood by this point! thought we would head to the hotel in Darling Harbour and luckily we could check in. brilliant. (we did look a little out of place!) it is such a lush hotel! the view cannot even be described to give it justice! so we crashed out and delighted in all the pampering features... like a BATH!! basically slept for most of the day! even though we found out later it was 27 degrees outside! then we went out for dinner in Darling Harbour and now are sitting in this Internet cafe telling you guys!

There is always so much to say and never enough time but we hope we are giving you a good idea of what we are up to! We are moving up the coast on the bus on Thursday morning at 6.25 AM !!! and apparently wednesdays are the best night to go out so i imagine we will probably not even bother going to bed!
