Today was our free day to explore. In the morning a small group of us tried to visit the Holyrood House, the palace, but we were not allowed in because staff were preparing for Prince Charles visit the next few days. Unfortunately we didn't see the prince. We were also thinking about going to Roseline Chapel, which was featured in The Davinci Code, but it was covered in tarps due to restoration efforts and it was closed for most of the day because a wedding was being held there. So, instead Brian and I went to Cannongate Kirk which was first established by King David around the 8th century. We also went in the Museum of Edinburgh, strolled Prince's Street (major shopping area), and relaxed in the Edinburgh park which used to be a Loch (lake) before it was drained. We found out later that when the lake was drained they found over 6,000 bodies at the bottom!!
