We have just finished six days in Rome. We did all the touristy things like the Roman forum, the Coloseum, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Parthenon, The Vatican, St Peter's and Villa Borghese. Walking in the Forum and on the Palatine nearly killed us, most ridiculous was the disgusting state of our feet after collecting a days worth of dust. The Spanish Steps were crowded and crazy and the Trevi fountain prooved to be a fabulous place for gelati. The Vatican was full of cultural history and we had an amazing time in the Sistine Chapel although we had to laugh at the woman sleeping on the seats and the idiot American woman who was comparing her potplants to Michelangelo. St Peters was beautiful.
We had a bit of a lazy week which involved lazing about in gorgeous gardens, sleeping late and going to the cinema to see Transformers! It was the only movie in English but well worth the time! We also saw the Shrek3 preview in italian which was one of the funniest experiences this trip. Melissa is going to drag Kate to see Harry Potter whether it be italian or not.
We met crazy fun people in Rome too, Lisa who is a STAR, Lee who is a kiwi chef, naked texan boy who should wear more clothes, nick6 with the hickey (we know, it's a birthmark!), and even skinny-boy; then there were the extremely annoying ( to say the least) canadian boys who snored all bloody night - nothing more need to be said because the only words we use to describe this experience should not be read by our parents). At one point Kate thought Melissa smothered them with their pillows through the night because they actually went quiet. We also met Juan the 2nd, nothing else needs to be said about him except that we acknowledge this means absolutely nothing to almost everyone. We had an awesome night out with our new friends (only the star canadian (not the snoring d*** ) was invited) where Henry was molested, we had guest chefs and lots of wine. We also discovered that Italian men are just as bad and even more sleazy than Greek men which is annoying when our favourite restaraunt is haunted by sleazy waiters. We like food too much for this to stop us eating there though. Strange and fun Rome.
