Naples - The city of scooters, pizza, the Mafia, sleazy men (and boys) and Giovanni!
We are staying at Giovanni's Home. An apartment in the heart of Naples. He is adorable - he provided us with water after we nearly died climbing up three flights of giant sized stairs, he made us pasta for dinner, a colour coded map of where to go (and where not to go) in Naples and woke us up with the Mickey Mouse Club song in the morning.
We have met three awesome British girls - Haley, Christina and Lindsey - who have the most fantastic accents! Must start using 'right', 'proper' and 'well' in our vocab more often. Our new fave insult is to call someone a 'boob'. We pretty much spent all of naples with these girls to the point where Giovanni started calling us the Spice Girls.
On the streets of Naples the men are very sleazy (we live in a nice little bubble hanging out on Giovanni's terrace). I (kate) got hit on by two children - a ten year old and seven year old boy!!! What was that! Melissa and Haley got hit on by a sleazy fish at the oldest aquarium in Europe!
We vistied the Palazzo Reale (a palace in the heart of naples), it was very pretty with lots of chandeliers and shinyness. We pretended to be princesses (except that Melissa is a fairy princess so she wasnt really pretending). And we did not have any Prince Charmings to dance with in the Cinderella ballroom (Henry had been left at home for fear of him being stolen by the mafia).
Henry made a new friend. Spoony and Henry drank tea and wine, they ate pizza and went to Pompeii together. Henry will miss Spoony.
We went on a journey to Pompeii and got very hot and very dusty!!! Scraping dirt off our feet for ages....they are still dirty!!!
We have avoided buying shoes in this city but it was a close call.
