Greetings from sunny California!
Last week we spent 4 days in Las Vegas which is definitely an interesting place! The weather was unbearably hot (still 38 degrees @ 1am) so the climate undoubtedly assists the casinos in getting people in to gamble! We stayed one night with Kaye and Joe @ Paris which was awesome and we did actually feel like we were in Europe again. Gerard and I then made the short journey down the Strip to Excalibur which is a medieval themed hotel and casino and it is HUGE! Spent the time in Vegas gambling (of course), shopping and trying to stay cool. Oh, and no big wins unfortunately!
After Vegas we flew to Long Beach in California and went to Disneyland where all our dreams came true ha. A very momentous occasion happened here……I went on my first rollercoaster - Thunder Mountain. Was I scared? Yes. Did I feel sick? Yes. Did I want to kill Gerard during the ride for making me do it? Absolutely! Scariest thing ever. Disneyland was fun but by the end of the day we didn't want to see another kid again.
From Disneyland we took a very expensive cab ride to Santa Monica where we have based ourselves for the past 4 days. Decided to stay here instead of downtown LA cos we haven't heard the best things about the city. Santa Monica is a happening place. The Pier is entertaining and the main centre has heaps of funky cafes and shops. Also took a trip down the road to Venice beach which should be named "Americas Freakshow". I have never seen so many weirdos in my life! It was hilarious because there was a huge religious demonstration-thing and down the beach a bit there was a national topless day parade. Fantastic…. only in the states.
We had a massive day yesterday as we went on a tour of the LA sights (the Hollywood sign, Kodak Theatre etc) and celebrities houses. Spied on Madonna, Drew Barrymore, Arnie and Adam Sandler to name a few. We even bought a map of all the celebs house so we can do some spying of our own! Haha. Also went to Universal Studios which was heaps good and went on the famous studio tour which showed us how they make movies/TV shows etc. I was pretty disappointed however, because we couldn't go down Wisteria Lane as they were filming the show.
So you're updated on more adventures. We hit up Malibu tomorrow and stay there for 4 days so we can hire some boards and hit the water and then we're cruising up the Big Sur. I know, it's a hard life! Although, the dream ends in 5 weeks and it's fast approaching!
Enjoy the weekend!
