Hey guys!
Will be a shortish blog this time round - getting a bit over these now
Since our last entry we have been touring around the Canadian Rockies. They are truly spectacular (and it has to be said, much better than the US Rockies) Spent two days in Calgary- quite a nice city. Went to go pick up our RV to find that we had been upgraded to the biggest one you can get. Think of the size of a bus….huge V10 engine! Drove to Banff and spent a couple of days there. Then up to Lake Louise which was beautiful but packed with grey nomads (actually I think in our whole time in the Rockies we probably saw 5 people around our age). Moraine Lake down the road from Louise was just as impressive. Having said this, the best lake by far was Peyto Lake which is just a bit further north from the others. Continued north on the Icefields Parkway which connects Banff and Jasper National Parks and walked up to the edge of the Athabasca Glacier which is one of the biggest glaciers in North America. Got to Jasper which is a really quaint little country town and we really enjoyed just chilling there, enjoying nature and watching the leaves change colour. Managed to see a elk, deer, big horn sheep and even a black bear! Went to natural hot springs to bathe in the fresh mountain air (again with wrinkly oldies).
Only just survived the freezing nights in the RV…some nights didn't have any heating and the temp got to -4! Even the condensation on the inside of the windows was frozen. Besides this the RV was comfy enough but absolutely chewed through the fuel!
On the home straight now……off to Vancouver now for 5 days…
Seeya soon!
