We had a very, very lazy day today.
Firstly, we got out of bed at 8:00am to go down to the dining room for breakfast. It was a big breakfast like yesterday and quite well rounded with toast, fruit, cereal and eggs.
After breakfast we both had a wash and bathe in the public bath in the ryokan. We have been lucky so far to not run into anyone when we've used it. Which doesn't make sense because there is a fair amount of people here and only one private shower.
Anyway, after our bath we went back to our room and ended up having a nap. Yep, straight after we got up. What else are holidays for? At around 10:00am the ladies came to change over our sheets so we ended up getting up and going outside for a bit.
We walked around for a while and went up to some shops that we passed the other day that had been closed at the time. But most of them were closed again today due to it being the Emperor's birthday. So after an hour of strolling round we went back to the ryokan and downloaded a movie to watch on the iPad, 22 Jump Street.
When that ended when went to find some lunch but had trouble finding restaurants and/or finding open ones so we ended up buying lunch from Lawson and taking it back to the ryokan to eat.
This then resulted in another nap. Because it was cold. And we are on holidays.
When we awoke we decided to go down to a public onsen near the station. We went into the separate men's and women's baths and bathed for half an hour before meeting back up outside.
There was a Christmas drumming concert on right outside the onsen so we stayed to watch that. It was very fun and they tried to get us involved in dancing like monkey and drumming the drums. I was too embarrassed to dance like a monkey but we both had a turn at drumming. It was a good show and free and we got given a free bowl of pork soup so that was a nice touch.
After that ended at around 8:30pm, we tried to go back to D-Line for dinner but it was completely full. So we ended up having a Lawson dinner as well! I wasn't that upset because I wasn't super hungry but Shannon was a little disappointed.
Tomorrow we leave Yudanaka and go to Kawaguchiko which is near Mt Fuji. I think it'll still be pretty cold there but probably not as cold as it's been here.
