We had another big day trip out of the resort. We got up at 7:00am and quickly washed and dressed to fit in some breakfast before we left.
The bus picked us up at 8:00am and we made our way to the first stop which was a religious place where there are five different religious sanctions lined up in a row. So there are five buildings slash temples lined up and people go to their respective places to pray. The five religions are Muslim, Catholic, Buddhist, Protestant and Hindu. The buildings are all very different and it was cool to see them all lined up next to each other peacefully.
After that we went to Bali Zoo. Everyone else wanted to go on an elephant ride but Shannon and I decided we just wanted to go to the zoo. So whilst everyone did their elephant ride we enjoyed strolling around the zoo. It was quite nicely set out with nice safari jungle themed gardens and walkways. It started to rain at one point but it wasn't for long. Some of my favourite animals were the tigers, otters, slow loras and the bear cats. Shannon also feed one of the tigers so that was cool.
After the zoo we drove about 1.5 hours to a temple called Taneh Lot that is built out on the ocean. You are able to walk through the ocean to get across to it where you wash your hands in natural spring water that flows through, wash your face and then have a drink of it. Then they sprinkle some oil essence on your head and stick a few grains of rice to your forehead. A guy escorted us across and back to and from the temple through the water which was very nice.
After Taneh Lot was hopped back into the bus and drove back to the resort. Before happy hour Shannon and I had a quick swim which wasn't too refreshing due to warm water but still nice. We washed and dressed for happy hour and went down for some drinks. After that was over we went and had dinner with Alison and Michael at the pizza bar. It was a great opportunity to chat altogether and I enjoyed the evening.
I'm feeling a bit delicate tonight so hopefully after a good night's sleep I'll feel better.
