We had a major travel day today!
We woke up on our last morning in Japan at around 6:00am and showered and packed up the last of our things before leaving the hostel.
We dragged our heavy and full bags to the station with the hopes of having a last bakery stop. Unfortunately the bakery was not yet open this early so we went up on to the platform to wait for the train.
It took about 70mins to get to Kansai Airport but luckily we only had to take one train so that made it easily.
We checked in ourselves and our bags when we arrived and then headed to the restaurant area to get some breakfast. We had a pretty tasty set meal with pork cutlet at one of the restaurants and then browsed through the shops for a while.
Around an hour before our boarding time we went through customs and took the monorail to our departure gate. By the time we got through it was pretty much time to board so we hopped onto our first flight of the day.
Unfortunately the flight wasn't too enjoyable because we were sitting next to this annoying Malaysian guy that was biting his nails off and spitting them around and also eating noisily and stuff. But we made it safely to KL after seven hours of air time.
In KL we had a three hour stopover where we scoffed down some Burger King (Air Asia doesn't have food included) and watched a mother and son have a full on fight with the boy throwing apples at her at one point.
At 8:30pm we hopped onto our second flight which seemed a lot better. It wasn't as crowded and we were sitting next to this quiet lady. I had a European guy sitting behind me that kept kicking me in the back which was a pain. And him and his girlfriend were drinking their duty free bourbon the whole flight which smelt bad and isn't even allowed.
The flight was only three hours though so it was good to get off in Bali after 10 hours flight time in total. The airport wasn't very busy at this time (11:45pm) either so we got through and got our bags in good time.
A guy from the resort was waiting outside to drive us to the resort which was only 20mins away. It was humid and warm in Bali, just like home, which was a nice change from the cold in Japan.
When we got to the resort Kerrie was at the lobby to greet us and we checked in easily before Kerrie led us to our room. The room is massive! It's like a one bedroom apartment with a massive bathroom with two different shower heads and also a huge walk in wardrobe. We are very grateful to have this next week as a gift from Kerrie and dad.
It was 1:00am by this point so we said goodnight to Kerrie and then hopped into bed. Our king bed is so big. When we were lying on separate futons in Japan we were closer than we are now in this king bed!
Looking forward to our first day in Bali tomorrow.
