After spending some time in Pai we met a bunch of other travelers and after a few nights of dance parties and open mic nights and a treacherous and fantastic day at the waterfall we decided to continue on to Laos as one big group. We all were expecting to grab a bus out if town in the early afternoon and had our bags packed and ready to go. A little more research and we discovered we would have to wait until 8pm to leave. To waste our day literally we went down to the riverside bar and had a few buckets and went for a swim. 6 hours later found us dragging our packs and our asses up the hill into town. Miraculously we all made it to the bus on time although I seem to be missing a few items. We had 8 people traveling with us which pretty much fills the bus but one random girl started the ride with us but only lasted 2 hours in before bailing for some more manageable bus buddies. The ride was 7 hours and in our state might as well have been a week. The backseat combined with the winding mountains and cramped quarters allowed for no sleep for me. We were literally careening through the mountains, squealing tires and all. 3am and our driver dropped us at a guesthouse where we made the biggest bed ever and got no sleep in it. Next up was breakfast visas ferries and a slow-boat. Getting all 8 of us moving in the same direction proved impossible and if it weren't for Michael our freshly mohawked tribe leader we never would have made it past breakfast. After 2 days boating down the Mekong we FINALLY arrived in Luang Probang Laos. We managed to squeeze 10 people into 2 rooms for the night and have since found much more humane accommodations in a new guesthouse. Thailand was fantastic and I'm expecting good things from Laos. Tomorrow will be waterfalls and possibly investigating the caves in the area with the crew.
Tata for now!
