After a full and very intense week of backpacker debauchery in vang vieng we knew we had to book a bus out before we were all working for Q-bar and got sucked in forever. Dave court and I booked a 1230 bus to the Laos capital of Vientiane. The bus ride was only a few hours and when we arrived Court and Dave went to explore the boardwalk along the Mekong as well as the night market there. My plan was to stay in and get some journal writing done and enjoy the bad tv that we had in our room (Asian Idol) what a treat! A few persuasive skype messages from our fellow travel partner Quinten, who informed me three more of our friends had come to town, and I was on the back of a motorbike and on my way into town to grab a beerlaos with him. We met up with two new friends and had a quiet evening chatting over beers. That night when I got back to our sauna of a hostel I realized that the promised third mattress to put on the floor had not arrived and Dave and Courtney and I were looking at sleeping on two tiny single mattresses that night. Courtney and I are used to sharing beds, however, this does not mean we're good at it. Court is notorious for falling asleep quietly on her own side and waking up with limbs mysteriously wrapped around me or her whole body on my side of the bed and me huddled on the edge of the mattress tugging for a corner of the blankets she has cacooned herself in. Dave (possibly the smartest guy ever) suggested we sleep head to foot so after fighting over who had to put their head where their feet were supposed to be (I lost but got the only pillow) we went to bed and while Dave tossed and turned and had an awful sleep in his own bed, Court and I slept like babies! Most fantastic sleep in weeks. I think the trick is to defend bed territory with feet in the face. It works and you feel safe enough about your space to sleep soundly. Court and I have moved to a spacious four-poster queen bed but I still plan on sleeping upside down tonight...and possibly every night until I wake up to her cuddling my feet.

Adam haha good job court! way to sleep like a rondeau. One time i was sleeping next to brock after a night of drinking... so i was asleep, and he was in a half sleep state, anyways, he felt an arm wrap around him and didn't think anything of it, as he was drunk and half asleep, and i think he thought that it wasn't me... eventually he turned around and we were face to face, right as my leg started wrapping around his body haha.
