After being with our group of 10 through a 7 hour bus ride from Pai and a 2 day slow boat down the Mekong we ended up in Luang Probang a couple if nights at the illegal night club and the next night led us to Utopia the most amazing bar on the riverside, sheesha, riverside lounging and a beach volleyball court! After a few drinks, our crew of ten decided to get some shots. We meandered up to the bar and started ordering a plethora a shots that no one really needed at that point. The bar tender had a familiar accent and after inquiring about his origin I learned he was from London... Ontario! I asked him if he knew my brother Rob Humphreys and he was shocked. "You're Rob Hunphreys' little sister!?" "yea" after which I got a job offer to work at the bar and a free round of shots for my friends and I. It was a really solid night! The next day we decided to move on to Vang Vieng ahead of the others to switch up the group dynamic, Dave, Court and I have spent the day moving down the river from bar to bar and met up with our friend Nico along the way. Some spray paint, buckets and river rope swings later and we've stumbled back to our guesthouse for some much needed rest. We're not sure who will have survived the trek from Luang Probang but we expect to see some of the others within the next two days. I also ran into the red head from the movie 127 days here at the hostel. Random. Excited for our second day in the city tomorrow and some tubing and stoked to work at Utopia with Rob after our Asia tour! This place never ceases to amaze. Working on traveling lightly and capitalizing on every opportunity we can!
Bruised but not broken,
Kate & Court.xx.
