hey,
We arrived in Rotorua and straight away we could smell it. Theres nothing like the smell of rotten eggs to get you going in the morning. Found our hostel the Lakeside hotel which had fantastic views over the lake and then went for a wander back into town. Had a quick look round the shops then headed back towards the lake and finally had to take Kate back to the hostel as she was feeling ill. She was to spend the next 2 days in bed not being able to move with flu. After i took her back to the hostel I went for a jet boat ride on Lake Rotorua which was choice!. I had a bit of a wander round town and then headed back to the hostel. I went down to the bar in the hostel and had a drink with some local maoris.
The next day Kate was still bed ridden so I decided it was a good opportunity to go rafting. After a massive breakfast at a nice little cafe looking over the lake I got picked up and taken to the Kaituna river for some rafting. there were three rafts from the same company going down the river at the same time. The river has the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world at 7m it seems higher when you go over and the raft flips at the bottom! the following day I decided to pack in some more high adrenalin activities so I headed to the agrodome. First I did the swoop where you get winched up on a massive cable pretty high and then you pull a cord and swing. After that I went on the agrojet which goes around a man made track with lots of sharp cornering and spinning. After that i did the ZORB. I had to jump like superman into this giant hamster ball which was filled with water and then told to start walking down the hill. That lasted for about 2 seconds before i was on my arse zig zagging down 200m of hill it was awesome.
the following day kate made it out and we went on a duck tour which was an amphipious vehicle that toured us round rotorua and took us on some of the lakes such as the Blue lake cant remember the other names. We had lots of fun using our duck quackers as we went around the town.
That was our time in rotorua we headed to taupo next which ended up as a bit of a wash out as we had loads of rain so couldnt do much we are now in wellington and hope to go to the museum and maybe a super 14s game
Bye for now Andy and Kate
