Thursday
Another sunny day, we hit the road about 10am and drove some of the Slea Head road. It is a road that goes along the coast with spectacular views. We went to a beach, a museum about the Blasket Islands, a pier where you can take a ferry to the Big Blasket island, Gallarus Oratory then back to home at the Lantern House Bed and Breakfast. Tonight we have the Dingle librarian coming to talk to us about the history of the area, then off to a jam session by local musicians. This area is all about music, the ocean and sheep
The Blasket islands off the coast of the Dingle Penisula used to be inhabited. The biggest island about 3 miles from shore, has ruins of the village that you can visit. The people were self sufficient and hardy. A lot of them immigrated to Springfield Massachusetts.
The Gallarus Oratory is a stone bldg about 1300 years old. It was built by monks and was a church. Built with rocks only, they call it dry masonry. Completely waterproof!
That's all for now!!!!

Kathy Katie - I am loving the photos! I never realized Ireland was so picturesque. The photos you posted are better than the Figi ones! I just might print and frame some of these!
