Day 2 in Xi'an was even more amazing because we got to visit schools and meet students!
We started the day by roaming the daily market. You can buy almost anything here: fresh fruit and vegetables, breakfast, live chickens and ducks, seafood, beef, pork, socks, shoes... you name it, it is for sale! You can also have a local dentist pull your teeth for you, no novocaine in sight:)
Our second stop of the day was a local university where we enjoyed a very informative presentation on the state of education in China. Not surprisingly, they face many of the same challenges we do.
My favorite part of the day was a visit to Xi'an Middle School no. 66. The students and staff greeted us very warmly and escorted us to several classrooms. We played ping pong, learned to do the traditional flag dance, watched artists at work, and even tried to play some ancient Chinese instruments.
We ended the day with another fabulous Chinese Banquet arranged by our very gracious hosts.
