Today I was up early and ready to head off to the airport for my flight to Taiwan. My host Rachel sleapt in late which made it hard as I had to wait and worry about getting to airport. She wanted to join me until main-gate and then it would only be one jeepney ride to the airport. I stopped at some local markets brought a few things for lunch and then waved goodbye to Rachel. The airport was hectic as usual and I got hot with a $11 terminal fee ontop of my ticket price which I wasn't impressed with but had no choice but to pay. I then tried to change some money at both currency exchanges and unfortunately they had very limited funds so I got some Taiwan dollars and the rest American dollars.
The flight was only two hours and I was able to sleep the whole way. Arriving to Taiwan the rain was coming down hard and I was still in board shorts, singlet and thongs. I met another Aussie also in similar attire walking to immigration and had a good chat with him before jumping on a bus to the city. I was getting really cold at this point and as soon as I got off bus I headed down an alley to get into something warm and put shoes on before walking to my host Rachel's house. I arrived soaking wet but without too much drama - Rachel is a very interesting and down to earth Taiwanese girl. We talked about my plan for Taipei and Taiwan and then I headed out to get something for dinner in the pouring rain. After getting back I met Michael - Rachel's boyfriend a Polish guy who has been living here for last two years and he loaded me up with info on what to do and see here. Fingers crossed this horrible rain stops by tomorrow.
