Although I managed to get some sleep it was intermittent and from 2:30am onwards I was woken up every 10 minutes or so - to go with that the bus driver was terrible and every now and again he would hit a pothole at full pace or slam the brakes on really hard causing everyone to wake in sudden fright. At around 9:00am and after 16 hours on the bus we arrived into Lima - the landscape is all sand-dunes and desert clashing with the ocean - reminds me a lot of Morocco. The guy sitting next to me asked me for the time in English and turns out he could speak English well - I asked him for the location of the bus station so I could tell my host who was going to pick me up. We arrived and I called my host but unfortunately she had no idea where I was - after 3 more calls and barely being able to hear or understand her I paid a lady to call Abi again and give her the address and directions. After waiting outside in the stinking hot sun for 2.5 hours Abi arrived - I was actually very worried she wouldn't, I thanked my lucky stars and off we headed to Abis place. We had to take a very overcrowded bus and then walk about 10 blocks to Abis place - on the way it was chaos, loads of people; tourists and foreigners alike. We stopped at a little market and I brought some fruit and vegetables for lunch - a whole shopping bag worth for less then $2. In the afternoon we went for a walk around the city and the place was just inundated with people - all kinds of people and a huge amount of tourists, we checked out the main square, some markets and brought a few films to watch. In the evening we relaxed, watched a few films, ate popcorn and got an early nights sleep - arghhhhh a bed after the last two nights trying to sleep on the bus.
