Surfing Puerto Escondido!! Today I was up early with the hope to get out for some waves before the massive crowds hit la Punta. My Brazilian mate got up just as I was about to leave so I waited for him and then we headed down to the point together get some waves. There were a bunch of people out already and a few surfing classes going but there was little wind and perfect crumbling waves so I was pumped. Once again I was put off by the massive amount of people and so just hung-out to the side of the break in the hope to get a few little ones that the others might miss. Unfortunately I didn't catch any and gave up after a few hours and headed back to the hostel to get out of the extreme midday heat. It is so incredibly hot here during the middle of the day that people hide on their houses and avoid being outside. I was a little board so I brought some things and cooked lunch. In the afternoon I headed into the city for a walk around and to find out about the bus to Oaxaca City. The centre of Puerto Escondido is not so big but quiet a contrast to the area of La Punta where I am staying. I tried to head out to one of the city beaches but realizing the sun was disappearing rapidly decided against it. I took a collectivo back to La Punta and had a really nice chat with the driver about my travels and experiences in Mexico so far. In the evening I watched a movie and chatted with an Australian girl who had just arrived at the hostel.
