Day 3 and I am already feeling like I don't want this week to end. It's strange to say but I am even getting used to the routine of wake-up, meal-time and classes. After breakfast it was over to the office for some planning and preparation before making the way to our classrooms. The main focus for the day was to get our lip-dub done (using Katy Perry's new song Roar- all the students, staff and teachers would make a music video lip-syncing the lyrics to the song). Making the props took all morning and at 11am we were finally ready to start practicing; practice was terrible and after two hours we had barely achieved anything and as the sun was belting down the kids and staff were all exhausted. We broke for lunch late and I was again presented with a feast of pork and tomato salad and a huge chunk of rock melon. After lunch we were straight back into the video and when we went to film we found out there was no one to film so I jumped in and tried to make things happen: managing, directing and filming in 35 degree heat. Trying to organize 70 students and 20 staff in the steaming heat proved an absolute nightmare along with filming each and every student one by one do there little dance or act all in one single streamed shot proved challenging but by 5pm we achieved a perfect take and I couldn't help but feel a huge sense of pride for the students and achievement for us as teachers. A quick snack and then a screening of the film proved we had indeed done an awesome job and we could put that stress behind us. I took it easy for the rest of the afternoon before having dinner and heading out for a walk. After my walk I realized how exhausted I was and probably have a little bit of heatstroke so I took it very easy and decided after going and seeing how the students were going to go to bed.
