I woke up this morning and the sun was shining but 30 minutes later it had started to pour with rain so I decided to go back to bed and get a few more hours sleep. When I woke up again everyone was out so I decided to clean everything and tidy up a bit so the guys had a nice clean house to come home to. Xavier arrived back and we had a bit of a chat and did some more cleaning before I headed off to the beach for a walk whilst he went to work on his vegetable garden. The walk along the beach was really nice but at one point it did start to rain so I had to hide under a tree for twenty minutes to escape the worst of the downpour. When I got to the house Xavier and I did a few more jobs before sitting down to a quick lunch of leftover turkey salad and then heading into town to do a few more jobs. We went first to pick up Danni (Xavier's house mate) and then went to a friends place to pick up some rocks and some firewood for the Curanto. We then went for a look at an amazing beach located right in the middle of town - complete with its own amphitheater for summer festivals. The wind was belting in and it was freezing cold but the contrast with the black rock beach and the angry sea was sensational. We then went to the fresh fruit and vegetable market to start buying all the things for the Curanto: potatoes, onions, Tomatos, cheese, lemons, flour, sausages, ribs, lamb legs , white wine and everything else inbetween - this was going to be an absolute feast of mega proportions. Later we collected Tere and did a few more jobs before making our way back to the house. I had offered to make dinner so after some yoga and a bath I took to the kitchen preparing Indian soy mince with ratatouille, tortilla and salad. Just as I had finished preparing Tere said she had two friends coming over that she had also invited for dinner - s***!!! So some quick thinking had me make up a few salads and cut up some cheese as we now had 6 for dinner. The food turned out quite well and everyone was happy, after dinner out came the white wine, pineapple ice cream, grenadine and fernet; making the very traditional Chilean beverage known as Terra Moto (earth quake). Basically the drink is made of mostly white wine, then a shot of strong alcohol and a shot of grenadine with finally some pineapple ice cream stirred in; the result a very tasty and sweet dessert type drink that will have you drunk by the time you start on number 2. I left the guys too it at 12:30am as I could barely keep my eyes open but they were 3 Terra Motos down each and just getting started!!!
