I woke up to the most amazing news this morning: My sister has gave birth to Jay Anthony Milne (20th May) a beautiful little boy, making me an uncle a day before my birthday. It's obviously hard not being home for this important day but I know no matter what this little boy is going to be inundated with love and affection and one day when he's a bit older he will meet his uncle. The cleaning lady came early this morning so I decided to get my things together and head to the beach to get some sunshine. It was a beautiful morning and by 10am the beach was covered and people were enjoying the tranquility like me. In 2 hours I had got more sunshine then London sees all summer so I went and got some lunch and relaxed in the shade. In the afternoon I had organized to meet my friend Hana again and do a small hike to Urca mountain and watch the sunset - something I have already done but wanted to do again. I decided to walk out to the beach at the base of Urca where I was to meet Hana. We started the hike and although a little difficult we made it easy enough in about 40 minutes and this time I had more water so I could stay better hydrated. We were very lucky and got to just get 1 or 2 photos of the sunset before the sun disappeared early behind some fog. We pulled up a couple of the very comfortable layback chairs and watched the colours of the sun going down creep up over the horizon. We met a very interesting Taiwanese guy who we chatted a while with before the sun completely disappeared. I managed to get a few really nice photos and even a couple of headstand pics before all light was lost. We took some night shots of the city and walked around the viewing platforms watching all the tourists scatter to a fro. As it gets dark at the top they close the walking track off and let walkers get a free lift down on the cable car without having to pay the ridiculous $50 ticket. Unfortunately though the guy tonight was not so pleasant and made us wait until 7pm to get the free cable car down - ridiculous seen as they were sending down half empty cable cars. Hana and I kept ourselfs entertained and warm inside the little office whilst we waited for 7pm to come. The cable car ride was all over in 3 minutes and I said goodbye to Hana as she jumped on a bus and I began my walk back to Botafago. As it was dark and I was a little nervous I walked back quite quickly and was back at Leo's in no time. When I arrived Leo was home having dinner so after a quick shower I made some dinner and joined Leo for a chat. I didn't really do much for the rest of the evening except send out a bunch more couch requests in the hope I might be able to find a few couches to surf in the North of Brazil.
