Corri: I'll start tonight. Today we went to the zoo. We're that kind of family: zoos, aquariums, Hard Rock Cafes, even McDonald's... Really, churches can be overrated.
It was a great zoo: big cages and each cage had lots of animals in it. And lots of unexpected surprises. For instance, we started out at the Dolphin show, but there weren't enough people there, so they invited us back to their training area where we got to pet seals and dolphins, and get kissed by them! (And they did NOT smell like fish).
We almost got to see some elephant afternoon delight, at least the big old guy really wanted some, but the girls kept running away. A gorilla threw a rope at the window I was standing at and scared the BeJesus out of me! A peacock let me take lots of pictures of him (uploads later), and there were plenty of babies in the cages. We saw a lizard fall off a ledge, and chimpanzees being adorable. They had lots of animals we can't have in Minnesota (although we DO have polar bears), so it was a real treat.
And the zookeepers kept thinking we were Portuguese. I kind of like not being thought of as an obnoxious American...
My foot really hurts, but I've been keeping up splendidly on this trip. Tonight...well I'm sure we'll have another fabulous meal.
Julie's update: she's right, we did have another fabulous meal! When the dolphin trainer (picture a young, Portuguese George Clooney) said to me , in Portuguese, "you are Portuguese. Correct?" I was happy. And the sea lions and dolphins did totally smell like fish, but it was worth it!
